POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.

CAMPING ON SIDEWALK: Caller at Costco on Airport Park Boulevard reported at 1:01 p.m. June 19 that someone was camping on the sidewalk. An officer responded and cited and released a 35-year-old man for Mendocino County warrants.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Caller in the 600 block of Marshall Street reported at 8:30 p.m. June 19 that a person behaving suspiciously was in the area. An officer responded and arrested a 28-year-old Ukiah man for being drunk in public. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.

THEFT: Caller in the 400 block of Leslie Street reported a theft at 9 p.m. June 19. An officer responded and arrested a 69-year-old Ukiah woman for theft. She was cited and released.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: An officer contacted a person behaving suspiciously in the 500 block of South Main Street at 11:27 p.m. June 20 and arrested a 31-year-old Ukiah woman for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and for violating her probation. She was booked into county jail.

CAR HORN: Caller in the 1100 block of Mulberry Street reported at 2:14 a.m. June 21 that a car horn was sounding in the area. An officer responded and reported making contact with the vehicle owner.

BATHROOMS VANDALIZED AT SKATE PARK: Caller at the Ukiah Skate Park on Low Gap Road reported at 5:43 a.m. June 21 that the bathrooms had been vandalized. An officer responded and took a report.

DRUNK IN PUBLIC: Caller at Safeway on South State Street reported at 11:06 a.m. June 21 that a man was drunk near the building. An officer responded and arrested a 40-year-old Ukiah man for disorderly conduct. He was booked into county jail.

CAMPING IN PARKING LOT: Caller in the 200 block of North Orchard Avenue reported at 11:35 a.m. June 21 that someone was camping in the parking lot. An officer responded and reported that the person was “contacted and advised.”

SLEEPING IN DOORWAY: Caller in the 200 block of North State Street reported at 1:55 p.m. June 21 having an “ongoing issue, someone sleeping in the doorway.” An officer responded and cited and released a 43-year-old man for violating city camping codes and his probation.

SHOPLIFTER: An officer conducting follow-up regarding a shoplifter at Walmart contacted a person behaving suspiciously at the corner of South State and Freitas streets at 4:22 p.m. June 21 and arrested David A. Brown, 29, of Ukiah, on suspicion of petty theft with priors and giving a false ID to an officer. He was booked into county jail.

SHOPLIFTER: Caller at CVS on South Orchard Avenue reported a theft at 9:49 p.m. June 21. An officer responded and arrested Timothy R. McCosker, 56, of Ukiah, on suspicion of petty theft with priors. He was booked into county jail.

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.

DRUG POSSESSION: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Walnut Street at 2:42 a.m. June 20 and arrested a 51-year-old Fort Bragg man for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was cited and released.

BARKING DOG: Caller in the 400 block of South Street reported at 7:31 a.m. June 20 being concerned about the neighbor’s dogs. An officer responded and reported “all checked OK.”

CAMPING: An officer performing “camping enforcement” in the 100 block of South Franklin Street at 8:45 a.m. June 20 reported that the person was “cleaning up and moving on.”

BARKING DOG: Caller in the 700 block of East Chestnut Street reported at 3:01 p.m. June 20 having an “ongoing problem with dogs barking in the area.” An officer responded and reported contacting the owner and advising them.

SHOTS FIRED: Caller in the 300 block of North Main Street reported at 8:48 p.m. June 20 that shots had been fired from a vehicle. An officer took a report.

DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle at the corner of South Sanderson Way and East Oak at 1:05 a.m. June 21 and arrested Jessica Butterfield, 19, of Fort Bragg, on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was cited and released.

RAPE: Caller reported at 3:01 a.m. June 21 that a rape occurred in the 400 block of North Harrison Street. Officers responded and took a report.

DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle at the corner of East Fir and North Main streets at 11:34 p.m. June 21 and arrested a juvenile on suspicion of driving under the influence and without a license. The driver was released to their parents and the vehicle was towed and stored.

Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper.
