‘The Waterfront’ (2025)

Money is everything for the Buckley family in The Waterfront, and their financial empire is on the brink of collapse. Belle (Maria Bello) and her son, Cane (Jake Weary), tried to step in and save the family business while the patriarch, Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany), recovered from his heart attacks. But now Harlan has retaken control, and he has some extreme ideas to rescue the family from its fiscal calamity.

Unfortunately for the Buckley clan, Harlan’s decision to partner up with drug smugglers draws unwelcome scrutiny from law enforcement. Even the hint of illegal activity may be enough to send this house of cards into the abyss. Cane may want his father’s approval, but how far is he willing to follow Harlan if his choices could put both of them in prison for decades?

‘Scandal’ (2012 – 2018)

Before Shonda Rhimes brought Bridgerton to Netflix, she was the creator of Scandal, a hit drama that ran for seven seasons on ABC. Liv and her associates aren’t afraid to do some dirty work to get results, but they have plenty of skeletons in their own closets. Foremost among them is that Liv is the mistress of President Fitzgerald “Fitz” Thomas Grant III (Tony Goldwyn), the husband of Melody “Mellie” Margaret Grant (Bellamy Young). There is some genuine love between Liv and Fitz, but the scandal of their affair would ruin both of them if the truth ever comes out. As for Mellie, she has political ambitions of her own, which may also come back to haunt Liv.

Scandal is streaming on Netflix.

‘Homicide: Los Angeles’ (2024 – Present)

Los Angeles may be the City of Angels, but you won’t find many virtuous beings in Homicide: Los Angeles. Law & Order creator Dick Wolf produced this true crime documentary series, which looks at the ugly side of the some of the city’s most notorious murders.

Each episode examines major crimes that made nationwide headlines, like music producer Phil Spector‘s murder trial for the shooting of Lana Clarkson. Some of the other cases that come under review include the murder of race car driver Mickey Thompson and his wife, Trudy Thompson, the disappearance and murder of film executive Gavin Smith and more.
