Arsenal have held exploratory talks with Rodrygo’s camp over a potential transfer, talkSPORT understands.
The Gunners hold a genuine interest in the Real Madrid winger dating back to May.
GettyRodrygo’s future will be a hot topic this summer[/caption]Madrid are understood to value Rodrygo, who has a contract that runs until 2028, at €90million (£77m).
The Brazilian made 51 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish giants last term as he registered 14 goals and ten assists.
However, the 24-year-old’s influence at Los Blancos has waned and has found himself stuck behind the likes of Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe.
With the emergence of 18-year-old sensation Endrick, Rodrygo is no certainty to remain a key player at the Santiago Bernabeu going forward.
But a move to the Emirates Stadium may be something that suits all parties.
The Gunners are in the market for attacking reinforcements following three-straight runners-up finishes in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s side were left short up top following injuries and were without Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for a period.
But the signing of Rodrygo, who can play on either flank and as a centre-forward, would add crucial depth and firepower to Arsenal’s attacking stocks.
Speaking in May, ESPN Spanish correspondent Sam Marsden told talkSPORT there was ‘more than a suggestion’ Madrid may look to cash in on Rodrygo this summer.
“Rodrygo seems to be the one that’s being pushed towards the door, I think one of Rodrygo or potentially even Vinicius Jr has to go,” Marsden said.
The Brazilian ace has 68 goals and 58 assists from 267 games for Real MadridGetty“Because you’ve got [Kylian] Mbappe, you’ve got Vinicius Jr, they all want that same space.
“I don’t know how much of a say Xabi Alonso will have in things.
“Rodrygo has made it clear he wants to play on the left, he’s been playing on the right at Real Madrid so he’s the most obvious one to go.
“But Vinicius Jr might be a bigger money-spinner, and may actually fix their problems a little bit more because they’ve kind of got that status problem between Vinicis Jr, Mbappe, [Jude] Bellingham in the shadows as well.
“Maybe Xabi Alonso can make it work, but it’s not worked at all this season.”
One man who is desperate to see Rodrygo in an Arsenal shirt is defender Gabriel.
Rodrygo looks likeliest to be the one squeezed out of Madrid’s star-studded attackGettyWhen asked about his Brazil teammate joining him at Arsenal on the Podpah podcast, Gabriel said: “I don’t know. But I’d like it obviously. He’s a phenomenon.
“I’ve told people already, he’s a phenomenon. If it was up to me, of course.”
