On Friday night against the 16-12 Philadelphia 76ers, your 14-15 Chicago Bulls will strive to put together their second (!) five-game win streak (!) of the young 2025-26 season — and return to a .500 record.
Sure, if Chicago pulls this off, the two five-game win streaks will bookmark a dismal seven-game losing streak, but that’s the Bulls experience under AKME.
In the No. 5-seeded 76ers, the Bulls will look to bump off the third straight East club that’s looking down on them in the standings.
Chicago took care of the 17-15 Cleveland Cavaliers (now the No. 7 seed) in home-and-home tilts last week, and then survived the now-15-16 Atlanta Hawks (No. 9) with some deft shooting and passing. Very little defense was played by anyone. Philadelphia has been looking relatively impressive of late, even with Joel Embiid’s status being a bit up in the air.
If the Bulls can handle Tyrese Maxey and friends Friday, they’ll get a major break on Saturday. On the second night of a back-to-back, Chicago is set to square off with the Milwaukee Bucks, who have been reeling without injured two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.

An Early Christmas Miracle: Bulls 126, Hawks 123 – December 23, 2025What To Watch For
Josh Giddey has been the story of the Bulls’ latest win streak. Through these four games, the 6-foot-8 point guard has been averaging 19.5 points on .483/.414/.667 shooting splits, 11.3 dimes, 9.3 rebounds and 1.3 swipes per bout. The 3-point shooting has been impressive, His 3-point shooting felt a bit fluky last year, as he was often left wide open by opposing defenses. This year, it’s become a legitimate trend. He’s connecting on 40.2 percent of his 4.9 triple tries a night. Tyrese Maxey, meanwhile, has been the story of the 76ers’ year. After a 24-58 finish to 2024-25 (although some of that was the result of some crafty late-season tanking), Philadelphia looked to be in pretty dire straits. During the 2024 offseason, the 76ers sank a combined $399.8 million in Embiid and Paul George. In 2024-25, both former frontcourt All-Stars missed a combined 104 regular season contests amid a rash of injuries. But everyone forgot the other All-Star on the roster, who also sat out 30 games last year. This season, Maxey has taken a massive performative leap, and could be in line for a second Most Improved Player honor in three seasons — along with, perhaps, being named to an inaugural All-NBA Team. Through 26 contests, the 6-foot-2 Kentucky product has been averaging 31.0 points on .461/.391/.889 shooting splits, 6.9 dimes and 4.5 boards a night. Maxey, not Embiid or George, isn’t just Philadelphia’s future. He’s already the team’s present, too. Josh Giddey at least enjoys a six-inch height advantage, but this game could become another high-scoring, light-defending affair in a hurry if Chicago isn’t careful. The other big story of Philadelphia’s season has been the guy the club landed the No. 3 seed in last summer’s draft. Shooting guard VJ Edgecombe showed plenty of two-way upside at Baylor, but he’s hit the ground running in the pros. His quick first step has made him a perfect backcourt partner for Maxey in the open floor. On the year, the 6-foot-4 swingman has been averaging 16.0 points while slashing .432/.383/.783, plus 5.5 boards, 4.0 dishes, 1.3 swipes and 0.5 rejections. The 20-year-old hasn’t played in almost a week with an illness, but is considered probable to return to the floor tonight. Billy Donovan might look to sic Isaac Okoro on Edgecombe from the jump — with help from Ayo Dosunmu (Tre Jones might be too small) — hiding Coby White elsewhere.Injury Report
