Diego Pavia has a lot of confidence in Vanderbilt football for 2025 and beyond.
The Vandy quarterback was a guest on Bussin’ with the Boys this week. Near the end of the interview, Pavia was asked if the goal is for Vanderbilt to be the top football program in the state of Tennessee. Suffice it to say, that’s certainly Pavia’s expectation for this season and beyond.
“Vanderbilt is gonna run Tennessee after this year,” Pavia said on Bussin’ with the Boys. “Like, this is gonna be the new staple of college football. It’s going to happen here at Vanderbilt.
“Everyone wants to come to Tennessee because of Nashville. They want to come to Nashville, so Vanderbilt. And then when we have the most money in NIL, like why not come here? We literally just have to win this year and … it’ll take care of itself.”

Vanderbilt is coming off its best season since the James Franklin era. The Commodores won 7 games in 2024, including a landmark victory over Alabama. However, Vandy did lose to the Vols at home this season and are winless against Tennessee since 2018. Tennessee has won 6 straight games in this series, all by at least 13 points.
Still, Pavia believes in this Vanderbilt program moving forward. He will get another shot to beat Tennessee on Nov. 29 in Knoxville.
