Roy Keane fears all may not be as well as it seems within the England camp.
The Three Lions were greeted by boos as they slumped to their worst result of the Thomas Tuchel era with a 3-1 loss to Senegal at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.
England have lost to an African side for the first time in historyGetty England can have no complaints from falling to defeatGettySenegal out-shot the home side 11 to eight and had five more attempts on target as goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly did the business.
For Tuchel, the result against the world no.19 means his honeymoon period is now well and truly over.
But Keane feared the German has far more than improving results to contend with as he questioned whether the England squad is operating as a cohesive unit.
“On one hand, you don’t want to overreact,” Keane said on ITV.
“But the signs aren’t great. It’s been a bad couple of days for them.
“I know they won the other day, but the rhythm wasn’t there.”
Keane added: “It won’t be a good summer break for the manager. I think he’ll be concerned.
“I look at this England group, I know we’re on the outside looking in but I think there’s something amiss there. They don’t look like a happy group.
“Obviously they’re disappointed with the result, I don’t mean it in that sense.
“But are they really all in it together? Is there a proper spirit amongst the group? I’m not so sure.”
Keane fears there may be a lack of togetherness bubbling away in the England campGetty Keane was working as a pundit to watch England’s embarrassing performanceGettyKeane also noted there were times during the contest when it appeared as if the England players were ‘having a chat like they are in Starbucks’ rather than being more critical of one another when a mistake was made.
For Harry Kane, England’s goalscorer on the night, he made the alarming concession the Three Lions have ‘lost that aggressive nature’ they once had under Tuchel’s predecessor Gareth Southgate.
“We had moments, but with and without the ball things aren’t clicking, we’re not finding the right tempo,” Kane said.
The England captain, who scored his fourth goal in as many matches under Tuchel, acknowledged there are a number of players in the squad who don’t have the same level of international experience as several others.
“It’s a mixture of things, but no excuses,” Kane added.
“We need to find it quick, the World Cup is going to come around really fast so every camp is really important right now.”

They remain clear in first place on nine points after three games as Albania were held 1-1 by Latvia while Serbia cruised to a 3-0 win over Andorra on Tuesday.
It means Albania sit second on five points after four games while Serbia are third on four points from two fixtures.
Tuchel and his England troops will look to consign the Senegal result to the distant past when they return to action on September 6 at Villa Park against Andorra.
