One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday after a fire broke out at a Douglas County home south of Parker, fire officials said.

One person was taken to the hospital but fire officials do not know the extent of their injuries. One dog was killed in the blaze and firefighters were able to save a cat, according to South Metro.
The fire is under control and crews are working on ventilation and mopping up the scene, fire officials said. The cause of the fire is unknown but there is “heavy damage” throughout the home.
