TEEN Mom alum Chelsea Houska and her husband, Cole DeBoer, have a strict rule for filming their HGTV show, but the terms could put the series in danger of cancellation.

Chelsea, 33, and Cole, 37, star on HGTV’s Down Home Fab, as the third season is currently airing on the small screen.

Despite disappointing show ratings, Chelsea and Cole have one strict rule they refuse to budge on that could’ve helped the series in viewership.

“They are just really adamant about staying close to home because of the kids,” a source told The U.S. Sun.

“They only want to be an hour or so away from the kids and I get that. Everyone wants them to come to other states.”

Chelsea and Cole currently renovate homes within about an hour of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

They have this restraint to be able to spend more time with their children Aubree, 15, who Chelsea shares with ex-boyfriend Adam Lind, and her kids with husband Cole: Watson, 8, Layne, 6, and Walker, 4.

Based in South Dakota, Chelsea’s designs are often rustic and farmhouse style with modern touches.

Her designs often feature antler chandeliers, cowhides, Buffalo portraits and more popular trends in South Dakota.

Fans have called for the couple to come to their hometown, as one wrote on Instagram, “I wish you would come to Canada! I love your style.”

A second commented, “I wish you would come to Long Island, NY to do my house. I absolutely love your work so much!!!”

Others have critiqued the stars for sticking to the same style, “It’d be cool if you could change it up a little bit and add more variety to your aesthetic.”

RATINGS TROUBLE

Ratings for Down Home Fab have been disappointing for the show’s third season.

The May 27 premiere had 526,000 viewers, while the June 3 episode dropped down to 499,000 people.

For the week of June 3, Down Home Fab has dropped down to the 10th spot on HGTV.

Others shows including Home Town has a whopping 1,336,000 viewers, while My Lottery Dream Home has 943,000.

DOWN HOME STORE

In addition to the series, Chelsea also owns storefront Down Home by DeBoers in Tea, South Dakota.

The U.S. Sun obtained photos of the stunning store, which is featured on the HGTV show.

Fans have complained of the cost of high-priced decor items.

One of the most expensive items in the store is a beige leather couch for $8,600.

The couch is rustic, as it has scratches and faded parts in the leather.

One Checkboard Weave Lumbar Pillow seen on the couch could set a customer back $99.

A gray love seat is $2,200, while a black circular table for dining is $2,000.

A display of cowhides is on sale for $250 each.

A source exclusively told The U.S. Sun, “It’s pristine and gorgeous, but I can’t imagine them doing much business.

“They have an $8,000 couch in there. No one is buying this couch.

“It’s very high end for the area. It’s not even a neighborhood, it’s off a freeway. Fans of the store will visit it, but they’re not buying anything.”

Customers have turned to Google reviews to express their frustration over the expensive items.

One customer wrote, “Very expensive store. Over 70+ for a candle, I don’t think so!!”

A second commented, “I was in the area for a wedding and thought it would be a good place for a gift. Everything is way overpriced and not one person said hello to me and I was the only one in the store at the time. Worst thing about a business is greed.

Customer service replied to the negative review, “Regarding our pricing, we aim to offer a range of unique and high-quality items, and we understand that our products may not fit everyone’s budget.

“However, your feedback is valuable, and we are continuously reviewing our pricing to ensure we are providing the best value for our customers.”

A third wrote, “Great place but a little pricy, definitely will go back.”

BABY DADDY DRAMA

The U.S. Sun previously obtained photos of Chelsea’s baby daddy Adam, 36, for the first time after he disappeared from public life eight years ago.

In the exclusive photos, Adam could be seen outside of the $112,000 Sioux Falls, South Dakota home he purchased on Teen Mom 2 in 2016.

Adam could be seen checking his mail and blowing leaves outside of the four-bedroom, two-bathroom ranch house on Thursday, May 29.

On Friday, May 30, Adam left his house in his black corvette and drove to a construction site.

In a second set of photos, he walked around the site and spoke with workers.

He wore a green t-shirt, cameo shorts and sunglasses for the outing.

The insider told The U.S. Sun, “He went to a work site. He was smiling, having jokes with the workers.

“He walked around and checked the equipment out. He looked like the foreman of the site.

“He stayed for about twenty minutes before continuing with his day.”

As seen on Teen Mom 2, Chelsea and Adam had a tumultuous co-parenting relationship through the years.

Because of his legal issues, Chelsea fought for Adam to only be able to see Aubree at a visitation center.

But Adam has maintained a relationship with Aubree through the years despite their on-screen drama.

Chelsea told The Ashley’s Reality Roundup in 2023, “Honestly, everyone wants to know about our relationship and where it stands, and I totally understand that.

“It’s a main question because it was such a huge story[line] of ours. Our relationship, it’s fine. We’re not best friends, but we’re not enemies at all.

“If I were to see him, there would be no bad feelings at all.”

Chelsea said Aubree’s relationship with Adam has improved as well, as the teen now coordinates when she sees him.
