The region has seen 700 officers depart in the last 15 years and now Mr Foster has joined forces with other commissioners to urge Rachel Reeves to use the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review to restore frontline policing numbers to pre-austerity levels. He said that communities were being short-changed and left vulnerable due to historic under-funding. Ms Reeves is due to set out her spending plans on Wednesday.
