Frontwoman Shirley Manson just revealed that the members of the group are "not in each other's lives at all" but still managed to write their eighth studio album, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light, despite their "peculiar dynamic."
“We keep things fresh and have a healthy marriage because we don't speak to each other," she recently told Us Weekly. "The levels of dysfunction are quite astounding at this point. But it seems to work, so why break it?"
"When I was younger, I tried really hard to facilitate communication between band members, and then I just became exhausted by it. I know it sounds really freaky, but as I said, it seems to work," Manson explained.
In fact, Manson says she actually enjoyed writing the group's new album, sharing that it was like a "surprise gift" every time one of her bandmates sent her a piece of music. She admits she had "no idea what was coming" and was "inspired" by the cinematic music she received.
"After 30 years of being together, to have a different way of writing and creating was wonderful. I think that's one of the reasons why the record sounds so fresh," Manson shared.
