Though Davis died in 2014 at the age of 88, her legend lives on—and in some unusual places.
Alice in Chains’ bassist Mike Inez, who has been in the band since 1993, shared an April 24 post on Instagram teasing that the group is back together and working, writing, “Our tribe is making noise. #aliceinchains.”
Fans, and even some fellow musicians, were quick to leave comments.
“There she iiiiiisss ?,” posted Karmann Soane, who goes by the handle sketchygoat on Instagram and is the artist responsible for the artwork. Her comment prompted a fan to remark, “@sketchygoat The world’s coolest Alice by the world’s coolest artist!”
Along with Pearl Jam and Nirvana, Alice in Chains was one of the most popular bands to emerge from the Seattle area in the ‘90s, with such hits as “Man in the Box” the chart-topping Jar of FliesEP in 1994 and self-titled album the following year.
