DENVER (KDVR) -- A pursuit in Arapahoe County led to a crash in Aurora, where the suspected driver fled the scene and is barricaded in an apartment Saturday morning, according to law enforcement.
A spokesperson for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office told FOX31 that deputies were trying to initiate a traffic stop near Parker Road and Mississippi when the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. Deputies stopped pursuing the vehicle per policy when it crossed out of their jurisdiction at Florida Avenue.
Law enforcement lost sight of the vehicle but found it near Dayton Street and Parker Road where it hit another vehicle.
Law enforcement said the driver, described as a Hispanic male and most likely a juvenile, got out of the car and ran. The sheriff's office said Aurora police were called to help set up a perimeter but decided to shut it down when they could not determine which direction the suspect ran in.
The Aurora Police Department then told FOX31 that the suspect ran on foot, forced his way into an apartment near 9901 E. Evans Ave., and barricaded himself.
Multiple agencies are on the scene. FOX31's Gabby Easterwood is on the scene working to learn more. This article will be updated as the story develops.
