BOISE – The Idaho Transportation Department, in collaboration with the Governor’s Office of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Department of Environmental Quality, has announced the opening of the first Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Idaho National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program. This initiative marks the initial phase in the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the state.
The first round of the program focuses on three high-priority locations: Pocatello, Bliss, and Lewiston. Applicants will be evaluated based on team qualifications, previous experience with EV charging installations, and their approach to the NEVI Program. Following the evaluation process, the state will shortlist candidates and invite them to submit detailed applications, including technical and pricing information, for final developer selection.
This announcement follows the Federal Highway Administration’s approval of Idaho’s FY 2025 NEVI Plan and the release of the Siting, Feasibility, and Access Study in July 2024, which outlined strategic locations for charging stations. Additional rounds of solicitations are planned for the coming years to expand the infrastructure.
The RFQ and supporting documents are available at itd.idaho.gov/business under the “Design-Build” tab. Interested parties must submit their applications by February 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM Mountain Time. A pre-application meeting for potential applicants will be held on January 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM Mountain Time.
The Idaho NEVI Program is part of the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act, aimed at creating a nationwide network of interconnected EV chargers. More information on the program and the FY 2025 NEVI Plan is available at evidaho.org. Questions and comments can be directed to NEVI@itd.idaho.gov.
