The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s (MME) General Cleanliness Department (Islands and Beaches Section) has continued its cleaning campaign at the northwestern beaches. The programme, which started on December 1, is to continue until the end of February 2021 in three stages stretching from Abu Zalouf Beach up to Zikreat Beach. During the first stage, around 247 tonnes of mixed waste were removed in 25 batches, covering Abu Zalouf beach up to Al Reem Protectorate Beach. The second stage is from Al Reem Protectorate Beach to Umm Haysh Beach, and the third will go up to Zikreet Beach.
