(KRON) -- The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors have taken what could be a major step toward ousting embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus. On Tuesday, the council held a special session where it unanimously approved advancing a charter amendment for a special election. The special election, which would take place on March 4, 2025, would ask voters to decide whether the council has the power to remove the sheriff from office. There have been growing calls for the sheriff to resign her office. On Monday, five congressional and state leaders from San Mateo County joined the chorus calling for Corpus to step down, saying her continued tenure impacts public safety.
