COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- An abandoned shopping center on Columbus' east side will soon receive a reboot. In an announcement on Wednesday, the former Kroger store on Refugee Road that once served the Eastland area will become the Eastland Prosperity Center, a multi-use facility that will offer services for just about everyone. After shutting its doors in May 2022, the former Kroger location has remained vacant. The community, already facing food insecurity, was quickly faced with a bigger problem, but a partnership between the Mid Ohio Food Collective and the city is looking to address the need of food insecurity, health concerns and so much more.
