A Covelo man was arrested recently for threatening his girlfriend during an argument, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the MCSO, deputies were dispatched to the 238000 block of Howard Street in Covelo around 11 p.m. Aug. 28 when a woman reported being the victim of criminal threats. The victim, identified only as a 33-year-ol Covelo woman, told deputies that during an argument with her boyfriend, identified as James L. Mathis, 41, of Covelo, the suspect had allegedly made criminal threats toward her. The MCSO issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for Mathis, but were unable to locate him that day.
