The community is now rallying behind the lifeguard being hailed a hero. Youssef Bounagui has been at WakeMed for over a week. It’s been very difficult for him, as he’s going to have to learn to walk again. But he told ABC11 this was his purpose in life and it was all worth it. “I would do it a thousand times. You know, you put me in a situation again. I’m going to do it. Even if you were to tell me I’m going to get hurt, you know, I’m still going to do it.,” Bounagui said.
