SOUTHINGTON — The Board of Education has approved a new two-year contract for Superintendent Rocco Nero effective Aug. 1. Nero officially resigned as superintendent effective June 30, and after a month of not working for the district, was approved to be rehired Aug. 1 to July 31, 2026. Nero will work on a 210-day contract at a daily rate of $458 per day. In 2021, the board approved a three-year contract for Nero. Nero was previously paid $94,992 for 240 days as superintendent and high school principal for the district.
