WARREN — A Champion man faces life in prison in connection to the Christmas Eve 2023 rape of an 8-year-old girl. David L. Varner, 46, of Center Street SE, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two charges of rape and a charge of gross sexual imposition in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. As part of an agreement with prosecutors, in exchange for his plea, a charge of attempted rape, with attempted rape specifications and one count of gross sexual impostion were dismissed.
