The collision occurred at 7:39 p.m. Monday on Mira Mesa Boulevard at Westview Parkway, according to Officer John Buttle. The victim, a man in his 40s, was crossing Mira Mesa Boulevard from north to south in violation of posted signs, Buttle said. He said the man was hit by a black 2001 Ford Expedition and died at a hospital from multiple fractures, collapsed lungs and blunt force trauma.
