A Willits man was arrested recently after allegedly hitting someone in the head with a baseball bat, the Willits Police Department reported. According to the WPD, officers responded to the 500 block of South Main Street around 1:45 a.m. Aug. 20 for a report of an assault in which the victim had been hit in the head with a baseball bat. A sergeant with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office also responded along with the WPD officers to contact the victim, described as “actively bleeding from the head,” and five witnesses, who all reportedly identified Damian Villegas, 30, of Willits, as the suspect in the assault.
