The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced the opening of what is billed as the world’s first mosque to receive a platinum rating by the Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design (LEED v4) from the US Green Buildings Council (USGBC). The mosque is located in Hatta and is said to have received a total of 83 points from the USGBC. According to a statement, the mosque can accommodate over 600 worshippers on an area of 1,050sqm in compliance with the highest environmental sustainability standards.
