New Delhi: Eleven individuals who received the AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine have developed a rare neurological disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome, clinicians in India and England have reported in two separate studies. The studies, published in the peer-reviewed medical journal ‘Annals of Neurology’, describe an unusual variant of Guillain-Barre syndrome characterised by prominent facial weakness. All the 11 cases were among people who had received that vaccine 10-22 days earlier.
