At 6 pm on Saturday, June 12th, 2021, Smith County Rescue, Smith County EMS, and Smith County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the Marina at Defeated Park for a possible drowning. They entered the water in search of a reported 19 year old male that had went under and not resurfaced. Their efforts were unsuccessful in locating the victim. The rescue squad boat arrived and began dragging operations in the area. The US Corps of Engineers sent a boat with sonar to assist in the search.
