Until last Friday, I considered myself to be a bleeding-heart liberal. During my senior year at Friends Seminary High School in New York City, I was the president of a club called HELP (Helping Everyone Less Privileged). Our projects included volunteering at soup kitchens, organizing coat and food drives, and making Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless people who slept in the shelter the school hosted.
