Roman Kantserov Goal Tracker: Blackhawks Rookie Lighting the Lamp

The Chicago Blackhawks have finally found the elite offensive threat to complement Connor Bedard in Roman Kantserov.

The Blackhawks selected Kantserov in the second round (No. 44 overall) in the 2023 NHL Draft. Chicago acquired the pick via trade from the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 22, 2023 in exchange for veteran defenseman Nikita Zaitsev and a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

After being drafted, Kantserov spent three seasons with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the KHL. He scored 8 goals in 53 games in his post-draft season (2023-24), followed by 13 goals in 47 games. Kantserov led the KHL with 36 goals in 63 games as a 21-year-old during the 2025-26 season. He was the first 21-year-old to lead the KHL in goals and the first under-23 player to lead the KHL in goals since Kirill Kaprizov in 2018–19.

As his production improved, his profile naturally elevated. When he signed with the Blackhawks on May 14, Kantserov was considered one of the top prospects not yet in the NHL. Because of his size and having only played in Russia, where there has been limited viewing available for most fans, there were questions if his ability to find the back of the net would immediately translate to the NHL. He has answered those questions early in his first NHL season.

Kantserov has emerged as one of the best goal scorers in the NHL’s 2026-27 rookie class. We’re going to track all of his goals during his rookie season here, including the period and time of goal, strength of the scoring play, assists and opposing goaltender. Feel free to bookmark this post for the rest of the season because we’ll be updating it throughout his rookie campaign.
