Nikki Glaser has never pictured herself becoming a mother, but the comedian is opening up about an unexpected emotional struggle she’s facing as she gets older.
During an Oct. 29 appearance on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast, the 42-year-old comedian spoke candidly about why she doesn’t have children and how her feelings about that decision have evolved.
Glaser explained that she never experienced the desire to become a mother, even as friends who once felt similarly eventually changed their minds and started families. But now that she’s getting older, she’s confronting something she hadn’t fully anticipated: the possibility of having biological children becoming less realistic.
“I didn’t freeze my eggs. It’s done,” Glaser told Kelce, explaining that she once found it easier to say she wasn’t going to have children because she knew she still had the option.
Now, she said, that possibility feels different.
“To have your own is a sad thing to say goodbye to even if you never wanted it,” Glaser admitted, adding that it’s something she’s currently working through.
The comedian emphasized that she’s still open to adoption, but explained that having children was never something she actively dreamed about or felt she was sacrificing for her career.
“It really never occurred to me to have kids,” she said, explaining that the desire simply never materialized, even as she watched friends become mothers.
Glaser also reflected on the pressure women can feel to want children, admitting that she once questioned herself because she didn’t experience the same maternal longing as many of her friends.
Kelce, who shares four daughters with husband Jason Kelce, offered a thoughtful response.
The podcast host explained that becoming a mother actually helped her better understand women who choose not to have children, rather than making her question their decisions.
“I love my kids,” Kelce said, adding that she would never give up motherhood. But she also said she understands more deeply why other women might choose a different path.
Glaser went on to explain that one of the reasons motherhood never appealed to her was the permanence of the commitment, something she deeply admires in women who become parents.
The conversation highlighted how different the experience of motherhood can be for every woman, whether becoming a parent is a lifelong dream, a conscious decision or simply a path someone never felt drawn to.
And while Glaser acknowledged that she may never experience having biological children, she made it clear that she’s still figuring out what that realization means for her.
