The Milwaukee Brewers were the best team in the regular season this year. They were also the best team in the postseason. They were the most deserving club to win it all, and they did. That doesn’t always happen with baseball’s tournament, so I do want to say, irrespective of them being a rival that I hate, I do generally appreciate when the actual best team wins it all. Feels fair and justified.
It’s the Brewers’ first world champinship, and I’m sure they will be riding high on it for a long time, as they should.
All we can hope is that the Chicago Cubs feel just that extra nudge of hunger, having seen their division rival do everything so well this year. And we’ll also have to hope that the hangover lasts long enough for the Brewers to forget that they return almost everyone, their core is still so young, and they have one of the best farm systems in baseball …
THERE IT IS! The final out! The @Brewers are your 2026 World Series Champions @MLBONFOX t.co/9z890xay2o

— Aram Leighton (@AramLeighton8) October 29, 2026 Since he mentioned the Cubs, I have to share:"Have fun talking shit to Chicago next year. We have a ring." -Milwaukee’s closer Trevor Megill to Brewers fans t.co/PwR1qoG0wl
— Jomboy Media (@JomboyMedia) October 29, 2026 Two reactions here. First, I mean, he’s not wrong. We’re going to hear it endlessly, and, unfortunately, they earned it. Nothing we can say or do about that part. Second reaction, though? Why is that top of mind when celebrating your World Series win in Tampa? Especially for Trevor Megill, whom the Cubs liked and tried to work with? Is he mad that the Cubs put him on waivers in 2021 (after giving him his first big league shot)? Beats me. Just kind of an odd place to go with some of your first thoughts about getting a ring. But, hey, again, he probably heard that particular razz from Cubs fans for years, so I do kinda get it. Pat Murphy is clearly a very good manager. No one can argue that. But I’ve made no secret that his schtick has grown beyond tiresome, and, honestly, when you really think about it, sometimes it spills over into just being a jerk:Jake Bauers gifted Pat Murphy the final out ball. Murphy thanked him and told him “You’re gonna be a rich fucker. Just remember when you’re on that horse shit Yankee team and you’re all playing for yourselves….just remember this is way we used to do it” #ThisIsMyCrew t.co/LLOeKju4VQ
— Carter Lowe (@cjlowehoops) October 29, 2026 Think about what transpired right there. You have a veteran player who has been grinding for a decade trying to break through, and he finally does it with your team, having one of the best seasons to help you win it all. He then has that final out ball – from the Brewers’ first ever World Series – and he decides to give it to you. And your response to this guy is all about making him feel bad for trying to go out and sign the huge contract that he’s worked so hard to earn? That’s your first response to his generosity right after he worked so hard to help you win it all? Seriously? There’s pathology there that I can’t even begin to understand, and the fact that he’s held up and celebrated as some cute and folksy grandpa makes it all the more galling. The Cubs made but a mere cameo this year:Every playoff series was won by the team with more regular season wins t.co/qMlQqdOXVZ
