After days of dry conditions, blue skies and warmer-than-normal temperatures, changes are coming to the forecast, the NBC 5 Storm Team said.
The shift begins Thursday, with scattered and light rain showers expected through the mid-morning hours. At 5:30 a.m., Live Doppler 5 Radar showed showers and sprinkles across parts of the Chicago area.
“Most of it is pretty light and scattered,” NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Iisha Scott said. “Everyone won’t see rain this morning, but don’t be surprised if you do see a couple of raindrops.”

Rain chances pick up Friday night into Saturday morning, and into the mid-morning hours, Scott said, especially along and south of I-80.
Rain will continue heading into into trick-or-treat time, Scott said, though it will likely be less widespread and more scattered in nature. Forecast models showed the rain at 4 p.m. would be mostly back to the west, northwest and the far southeast including Kankakee.
By 6 p.m., forecast models showed a band of rain stretching from DeKalb to Kankakee, with some scattered showers in other parts.
Later Halloween night, conditions will dry out, Scott said.
Temperatures
Wednesday, the high temperature hit 76 degrees, Scott said. Temperatures were expected to remain mild and warm for this time of year Thursday, with highs in the upper 60s.
Friday and Saturday will be cooler, with temperatures in the low 60s, followed by readings in the mid-60s next week.
Into the first week of November, temperatures look to stay above-average, Scott said.
