Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 is far away; however, the franchises are making sure to arrange their head coaches and support staff and are also trading players. Amidst this, five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced the departure of bowling coaches Lasith Malinga and Paras Mhambrey, as well as fielding coach Carl Hopkinson.
Mumbai Indians have not done well in recent times under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. The team in the last three seasons under Pandya’s captaincy has qualified for the playoffs once and finished at the bottom of the table in the other two seasons, which has raised questions about the team management and the captain.
On Thursday, 29th October, Mumbai Indians, via their official social media handle, confirmed the departure of Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey, and Carl Hopkinson. They are reshuffling the coaching staff, and this means that the team will have some new faces in the bowling and fielding departments.
In a statement, they said, “Mumbai Indians today announced that Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson will be moving on from their respective roles in the men’s team coaching setup, thanking each of them for their commitment, contribution and service to the franchise.”
“Mumbai Indians extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lasith, Paras and Carl for their contributions to the team and the wider MI family. Their commitment, the relationships they have built and the memories they have helped create will always be part of our journey. We wish each of them the very best in their future endeavours.”

He has won four titles with the franchise.
