GENEVA, N.Y. — A jury found a man guilty of a February stabbing at a Geneva apartment complex that left a woman with serious injuries.
Corwin Coleman, 57, was convicted of first-degree assault on Monday. He faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced on Dec. 28 in Ontario County Court.
Geneva Police say Coleman repeatedly stabbed the woman in the upper chest, shoulder, and neck at the apartment complex on Feb. 28. An ambulance rushed her to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she received life-saving treatment.
Coleman was arrested after an investigation involving Geneva Police, State Police, and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. He was on parole for robbery at the time of the stabbing, and prosecutors describe him as a “repeat violent felony offender.” Prosecutors also said the victim will “suffer from physical and emotional scarring for the rest of her life.”
