Pakistan Super League (PSL) could be heading to China, as a franchise owner has suggested hosting the PSL 2027 player auction in the neighbouring country. The proposal could help Pakistan Super League expand its global reach, following the footsteps of India.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the complete pre-season roadmap for PSL 12, with the player auction scheduled for January 23, 2027. The tournament will run from March 18 to May 2, 2027, featuring 44 matches across 46 days at five to six venues. Amid this, PSL Sixes: PCB mulls new six-a-side tournament to expand league's reach.

As reported by Pakistani journalist Saleem Khaliq, one of the Pakistan Super League franchise owners suggested China as the venue for the upcoming PSL 2027 player auction.
Pakistan and China have a shared relationship like "Iron Brothers", and now a franchise owner wants to show the cricket world how they support each other, even in the cricket field.
Actually, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hosted the player auction thrice outside India in the Indian Premier League history. The UAE hosted the IPL auction twice, while Saudi Arabia hosted it once.

Now, the Pakistan Super League is mulling over following in the footsteps of the IPL, with China emerging as the best venue to take Pakistan’s T20 league globally.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not reacted to the proposal. It will be interesting to see whether China hosts the PSL 2027 player auction next year.
The PCB has announced the direct signings window for all eight PSL franchises on October 23. Teams will have until November 23 to complete their direct signings before moving towards the player auction.
Under the new rules, every Pakistan Super League franchise can directly sign one marquee player who did not feature in PSL 10 or PSL 11. However, the final venue for the PSL 2027 that is scheduled for January 23 has not yet been decided despite China's proposal.
The PCB confirmed that PSL 12 will be held between 18 March and 2 May. The Pakistan Super League 2027 will feature 40 league matches and four playoff games, making it a 44-match competition. The board has also planned a workshop for next week.
Franchise officials will discuss important matters, including the player retention deadline, the pre-auction trade window, auction rules and playing conditions in the workshop. Amid this, Watch: Abhishek Sharma turns Babar Azam, drops a dolly in 1st T20I vs New Zealand.

The official media release states, “In a significant step towards strengthening Pakistan's cricketing pipeline, the PCB has formally aligned its domestic competition calendar with the HBL PSL pre-season cycle. The National T20 Gold and National T20 Silver tournaments will serve as the primary talent-identification and player-pathway events ahead of the HBL PSL 12 Player Auction – offering outstanding domestic performers a clear and direct route from national circuit cricket into the country's premier T20 franchise league and onwards to national team consideration.”
