While Dancing with the Stars pro Daniella Karagach has been known to make memorable moments on the ballroom floor, she added another to her repertoire in her latest performance this week with partner Ezra Frech.
During the competition show’s Dedication Night on Tuesday, Karagach wowed the crowd and viewers at home when she stepped on Frech’s prosthetic as part of an epic move during their contemporary dance.
After the show, Karagach told Yahoo! Entertainment that a simple thought during rehearsal inspired that part of the choreography.
View this post on Instagram“I was standing in rehearsals one day, and I was just like, ‘Can I climb it?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, why not?'”
Frech, a 21-year-old Paralympian who was born with congenital limb differences, wears a prosthetic in place of the lower part of his left leg, which he had amputated at age 2. And while his challenge on DWTS has been how to master ballroom dances with his prosthetic, he has been able to show how it’s possible to perform with a disability and regularly receives high scores from the judges.
“It takes a really creative mind to throw out to throw out questions like that,” he said of his partner. “And it’s so cool to get to incorporate my prosthetic as a part of the dance.”
“Coming into this experience, I didn’t know what kind of lifts I was going to be able to do, [with] the stability on the prosthetic,” he added. “To get to use the prosthetic for a lift, it was so exciting.”
The name of the move going forward? “The blade stand.”
“Ezra named it,” Karagach said.

Frech dedicated the dance to his mom, Bahar Soomekh, who joined the pair on the ballroom floor for a portion of it. Karagach also went viral last year with her partner Dylan Efron during Season 34 when the two pulled off an eye-popping move — which was later dubbed the “air walk” — where the reality star lifted the dancer to make it seem like she was walking horizontally. ?
