Ohio high school state finalist Ben Oswiecinski has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at Bucknell University beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am incredibly excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Bucknell University! Thank you so much to my family, friends, and teammates for always being there and supporting me. Huge thanks to my club coaches; Mark, Bruce, Keith, and my dad; for pushing me to be my best, and to the coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. The journey is just beginning!
A senior at Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio, Oswiecinski has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with Dublin Community Swim Team, where he primarily specializes in distance freestyle.
The 2025-26 short course season saw Oswiecinski slice more than 10 seconds off his 1650 free, nearly three seconds off his 200 free and just under two seconds off his 500 free. He clocked his current bests of 1:41.27 in the 200 free and 4:34.67 in the 500 free at the MAKO Holiday Classic in December, then swam his 15:49.73 PB in the 1650 free at the Ohio Tim Myers Senior Championships in March.
On the high school scene, Oswiecinski placed fifth in the 500 free (4:37.30) and seventh in the 200 free (1:42.26) at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division I State Championships in February. He also helped Dublin Coffman place sixth in the 200 free relay (21.54 split) and seventh in the 400 free relay (47.43 split). It was his first year making the championship heat in the 200 free and the relays, after he earned a career-high bronze medal in the 500 free in 2025.

Oswiecinski’s current career best in the 1650 would have placed 15th at last season’s conference championships, scoring 12 points, and he is not far off the 1:40.76 and 4:32.92 needed to earn a second swim in the 200 and 500 free. With two full seasons of training still ahead, he is already positioned to make an immediate impact.
Oswiecinski joins fellow distance specialist Ben Battaglia and versatile middle-distance swimmer Evan VanVelzor in committing to Bucknell’s class of 2031 so far.
