Mauricio Umansky assures Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test viewers that he is not offended by the directing staff calling him “grandpa” after his sudden exit.
“Well, look, I haven’t watched it yet. Thanks for the heads-up on that,” Mauricio, 56, joked to Us when discussing his elimination from the Fox reality show. “But they were calling me grandpa the whole time. I think that they have to do that, and they have to get into your head.”
In defense of the DS, Mauricio will soon become an unofficial grandpa when his stepdaughter, Farrah Brittany Aldjufrie, welcomes her first child with Zach Goldsmith later this fall.
“I was the oldest guy there, and by the way, I’m going to be a grandpa in less than a month. So it is what it is,” Mauricio explained. “But I got to tell you, at 56 years old, to be in the physical condition that I am in right now, and to be able to do the things that I can do? You can call me whatever you want. It’s all good, man.”
Mauricio Umansky Addresses Daughter Alexia's 'Very Privileged' Life
During the Thursday, October 15, episode of Special Forces, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star stepped away from the show before he could participate in a challenge where the remaining recruits were exposed to tear gas.
While it was clear Mauricio was visibly injured and couldn’t safely compete in the task, the cofounder of The Agency explained to Us what he was truly feeling before deciding it was time to leave.
“I had to fight Matt Barnes, right? I think you know Shady McCoy should have been the one fighting him — not me,” Mauricio explained about a previous challenge. “But, you know, he couldn’t go to use the toilet, so he left me fighting Matt, who is probably a foot taller than me.”
Mauricio claimed he took a “strong punch” and experienced a cracked rib.
Pete Dadds/ FOX“I hung in there through pain, and I was able to do a couple more challenges and spend the night,” he said. “As the adrenaline’s going, you can get through that pain. But as that adrenaline starts coming down, and the rib starts bruising, it just gets more and more painful and more and more painful.”
Maurico feared the gas chamber challenge would cause a “very intense hacking-up-a-lung situation” and provide further damage to his body.
“I just got fearful that hacking up a lung with a cracked rib could cause larger damage like a punctured lung, and I certainly didn’t want to puncture a lung in Malaysia in the jungle,” he said. “Unfortunately, I had to withdraw. That’s what happened.”
Why Mauricio Umansky Says Ex Kyle Was ‘Freaking Out’ Over ‘Special Forces’
As his daughter Alexia Umansky continues on the show, Mauricio wishes circumstances were different and he could have lasted even longer.
“Four days was not enough for me,” he declared. “I wish I would have been able to stay there way, way longer.”
