An employee of the Amazing Explorers Academy preschool at Pittsboro is facing several charges of child abuse as an investigation into her conduct continues.
25-year-old Violetta Wolovich, a Pittsboro resident, was arrested earlier in October and initially charged with seven counts of misdemeanor child abuse involving a child under her care. The Pittsboro Police Department said it had received a report about Wolovich’s conduct in September and continued investigating after her arrest.
Wolovich was arrested again Wednesday and now faces several more charges as a result of the follow-up investigations. The charges allege Wolovich assaulted three additional children under her care. She faces 11 more counts of misdemeanor child abuse: six involving one child, three involving a second and two involving a third. She was scheduled to make her first appearance in court on the additional charges Wednesday.
The Pittsboro Police Department says the case remains under active investigation. No additional information has been released.
Amazing Explorers Academy is located at 15 Paddles Way in the Chatham Park development. It is not part of Chatham County Schools.
