A USA Swimming Futures Finalist and Winter Juniors qualifier, Sunny Kang, has verbally committed to join Brown University for the fall of 2027.
Kang is a native of Scarsdale, New York, where she attends Scarsdale High School and swims for Westchester Aquatic Club. At the 2026 Shamrock Showdown, Kang set a host of new personal best times in SCY, winning the 1650 freestyle in 16:49.20 and the 1000 free in 10:04.93.
Over the summer, she competed at the Greensboro Futures Championships where she qualified for the ‘A’ final in the 200 fly, swimming 2:19.81 to add a little more than two seconds from the 2:17.19 she swam at the beginning of July.

500 free — 4:55.47 1000 free — 10:04.93 1650 free — 16:49.20 400 IM — 4:21.84Brown is a member of the Ivy League, and the women finished 4th at the 2026 Ivy League Championships, scoring 1137 points to come in just behind Harvard’s 1153.5.
Kang is coming in with Ivy League scoring times in three different events. Her 1650 freestyle is her highest scoring swim, coming in at 14th at the 2026 Championships. In the 500 free and 400 IM, she would have been 21st.
She joins Annri Katoh, Caroline Rogers, Emma Sloan, Hannah Oh, Laila Kwong, Sydney Leslie, and Sylvia Deliduka in the recruiting class of 2027.

The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university
