ROCHESTER, N.Y. – October 13th was “toasty Tuesday” in Rochester and the Finger Lakes, as temperatures reached into the 80s. We officially hit 82° at the Rochester Airport, which was just 1 degree shy of tying the record high of 83°. The rest of the work week will feature much more typical fall temperatures in the 60s and 50s. A cold front slowly sags through the area Tuesday night and Wednesday. This will keep our temperatures within a few degrees of 60 for most of the day Wednesday under a mainly gray sky. We’ll also see a few light showers at times.
Thursday will start off cloudy with a little mist with a northeasterly wind. High pressure briefly building in will allow some sunshine to return Thursday afternoon, but it’ll stay cool with highs in the 50s.
Our next wave of low pressure will move in on Friday, bringing a round of rain. We’ll likely see a period of steady rain as the low tracks almost overhead. As the low moves away, it’ll strengthen, which will kick up a chillier northerly wind. This will drop our temperatures into the 30s and 40s on Saturday, along with a brisk wind. We’re still tracking the chance for our first flakes of the season, though they’ll be more likely in the higher terrain of the Finger Lakes. The majority of any precipitation we see on Saturday should be in the form of a few rain showers, possibly mixing with some graupel. It’ll also be a bit windy both Friday evening and Saturday, with some gusts near 30-40mph out of the northwest.
