Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company (NWC) has completed sewerage infrastructure projects worth more than US $56mn in Baljurashi governorate in the Al Baha Region, as part of efforts to expand sanitation coverage and improve wastewater services.
The projects aim to strengthen infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency and improve service quality for residents, supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and its quality-of-life programmes, NWC said in a statement.
The completed works include a tertiary wastewater treatment plant equipped with bio-membrane technology, with a capacity of 6,250 cubic metres per day. The projects also comprise 46km of sewage networks, 17km of main sewer lines and two pumping stations.
The infrastructure upgrades cover several districts and villages across Baljurashi governorate, including Al Salam, Al Khaleej, Al Marwa and Al Ra’id, as well as parts of the villages of Al Talqiyah, Al Atashin, Al Aslah, Al Muhammadiyah, Al Jalhiyah, Al Shatiybah and Al Hesn.
According to NWC, the projects will expand access to sanitation services, improve the efficiency and reliability of the sewerage network, and support environmental sustainability in the governorate.
The completion forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to develop water and wastewater infrastructure across Saudi Arabia, improve service delivery and support the Kingdom’s broader development objectives.
