Legendary ’70s Rock Band Gets Major New Recognition 54 Years After Their Debut

The Eagles are getting some new recognition more than five decades after the legendary rock band first came together.

Barnes & Noble has selected the Eagles as its Artist of the Month for October 2026, celebrating the band behind some of the most recognizable songs of the 1970s.

“This month, we’re celebrating one of rock’s most iconic bands: The Eagles,” Barnes & Noble says on its website.

The retailer specifically points to songs including “Take It Easy” and “Hotel California,” as well as the group’s signature harmonies and California sound, saying the Eagles have “left an enduring mark on music.”

The honor also comes with a bonus for fans looking to add to their Eagles collections.

Barnes & Noble is offering 10% off the Eagles music included in its Artist of the Month collection throughout October, with albums and collections available in several formats.

Among the biggest savings is the expansive Legacy vinyl collection. Normally priced at $376.99, the set is currently listed for $339.29, a savings of $37.70.

The career-spanning collection was originally released in 2018 and brings together the Eagles’ studio albums from Eagles through Long Road Out of Eden, along with the live album Hell Freezes Over and additional music from throughout the band’s career.

The new Barnes & Noble recognition arrives 54 years after the Eagles released their self-titled debut album in 1972.

That album introduced the band with songs including “Take It Easy,” “Witchy Woman” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” beginning a run that would make the Eagles one of the defining rock acts of the decade.

Their success continued with albums including Desperado, On the Border, One of These Nights and, in 1976, Hotel California.

The latter produced the title track as well as “New Kid in Town” and “Life in the Fast Lane” and became one of the defining releases of the band’s career.

Five decades later, the Eagles’ music remains a fixture of rock radio and continues to reach new generations of listeners.

Now Barnes & Noble is putting the band back in the spotlight for October, giving longtime fans another reason to revisit the music that helped define the California rock sound of the 1970s.
