Crate & Barrel’s Stunningly Spooky Stoneware Platter Is Back For Halloween—But Not For Long

I’ve long touted my appreciation for Halloween decor that says “hauntingly elegant” instead of screaming skeleton explosion (although there’s absolutely room for both). For example, decor pieces that have a spooky toile print that feels like it came from a China cabinet in someone’s late 1800s house. Maybe this means I like my horror with a bit of realism, or maybe it just means I’m a sucker for toile patterns of all kinds. Either way, it’s always what I’m on the hunt for during the month of October.

Because why not have some witchy home decor that can be used whenever you want to embrace a moody moment? Crate & Barrel has just the stoneware serving tray and while it sold out last year it’s back—and on clearance.

Crate & Barrel’s Nightfall Halloween Stoneware Oval Platter is such a stunner, and has a really great heft to it aside from its spooky aesthetic. At about 15 inches long and 10 inches wide, it’s a great middle-ground serving piece. Basically it’s roomy enough to make a statement on the table but not so oversized that it takes over.

It’s also a lovely size for arranging appetizers, cookies or brownies, or even a small selection of pastries at brunch. And because it has a shallow 1.5-inch rim, it’s best suited to foods that don’t have much liquid or sauce. When it’s not serving dinner, use it as a decorative catchall on a kitchen island for fresh fruit or as a pretty base for a seasonal centerpiece.

    What Shoppers Are Saying

Like I mentioned earlier, the Nightfall Halloween Stoneware Oval Platter sold out this time last year at Crate & Barrel, so I’m pretty shocked (and thrilled) to see it hit a clearance price.

One shopper, who refers to the piece as “perfectly witchy” bought the serving dish as a gift.

“Stunning serving platter,” they wrote in their review. “We purchased this for a gothic wedding gift and it was perfect. The image is quality and the weight is perfect.”

Another person lamented missing out on it in 2025.

“Love this,” they wrote. “Waited too long to get this last year and it sold out. Do not wait on it. It is a great addition to Halloween.”

At the clearance price, it’s going to disappear faster than your Halloween candy so grab it now.
