Surprisingly, the first-ever Academy Award for best animated feature wasn’t given to a Pixar film.
Shrek beat out Monsters, Inc. at the 2002 ceremony, and the expected sequels and spinoffs to the iconic fairytale comedy have been released in the years since.
Now, 25 years after the original hit theaters, Shrek will debut as a newly remastered 4K Ultra HD and Limited Edition Steelbook this fall. Tuesday, November 3 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
Dropping November 3, the milestone release also includes 30 minutes of brand-new bonus content “peeling back the layers and exploring the making of the animated classic,” according to a Friday, October 9 news release.
