    MVP Awards

    Women’s MVP: Claire Curzan, Virginia

Curzan kicked off the night with a win in the 200 butterfly, touching in a lifetime best 1:50.10 in the 200 butterfly. That was only her 2nd time racing the event in three years but her time from tonight notably would have been fast enough to win the 2026 NCAA individual title. She touched ahead of Michigan’s Hannah Bellard who was 2nd in a 1:51.39.

The Virginia senior went on to win all four rounds of the individual skins event which Virginia had selected as butterfly. She swam a 23.11 in round 1, 23.34 in round 2, 23.36 in round 3 before posting her fastest swim on the final round with a 22.94 for the sweep.

In CSL Record time, Curzan finished her butterfly sweep of the day with a 49.90 100 butterfly to finish a second ahead of Tennessee freshman Charlotte Crush (50.97). Curzan was 2nd in the 100 fly at 2026 NCAAs in a 48.55 and is the top returner in the event this upcoming season as Torri Huske has since graduated.

Curzan helped Virginia’s ‘A’ relay to a round 1 win in the super skins event as she swam a 22.95 on the fly leg before the relay was DQed in the round of 6.

    Men’s MVP: Maximus Williamson, Virginia

Williamson began his night as a member of Virginia’s men’s 200 free relay that was 2nd in a 1:16.56, finishing right behind Tennessee’s 1:16.23. He swam to a 19.08 on the lead off leg.

He swam to a win in the 100 freestyle, touching in a lifetime best 41.41 to touch ahead of Tennessee’s Julian Koch who touched in a 42.15 for 2nd. Williamson’s time from tonight would have been t-12th at 2026 NCAAs.

Swimming to a new CSL record, Williamson touched in a 1:42.60 in the 200 IM, dropping a tenth of his own previous record from Match #2. Williamson won the NCAA title as a freshman this past spring in a 1:38.48. He touched ahead of teammate Sebastien Sergile who was 2nd in a 1:45.02. Williamson also posted a 19.16 50 free to touch 2nd behind Louisville’s Nikita Sheremet who won in a 18.86.

Williamson’s breaststroke legs on all four of Virginia’s super skins relay were crucial to keep the Cavaliers in front of Tennessee. Williamson split a 23.55 in round 1, 23.60 in round 2, 23.58 in round 3, and a 23.75 in round 4 to secure the event and meet win for Virginia.
