The Chicago Bears will take on their biggest rivals Sunday, but they’ll do it with yet another major player on the sidelines.
While Caleb Williams remains out with a hamstring injury, Kyle Monangai has also been ruled out for Sunday’s game.
Ben Johnson told reporters Friday that while the team knew Monangai, who had a monster game against the New York Jets last weekend, suffered toe and thumb injuries, it appears “the toe is a bigger deal than we initially anticipated.”
“So he’ll be out here this week. He he won’t be participating in this game and and we’ll see how long that injury sidelines him,” Johnson said. “But, you know, we got him with the specialist and so we will work through that. He’s in a boot currently.”
Friday’s injury report did feature some good news, with fellow running back D’Andre Swift listed as a full participant after being “limited” Thursday. Swift has popped up on the Bears’ injury report frequently this season, but has been able to appear in all four of their games so far this season.
Williams, who remains listed as “questionable,” also returned to practice for the first time in “limited” capacity. Johnson had already said earlier this week that the Bears will start Tyson Bagent in Green Bay, meaning Williams will be out for a third consecutive game.
Defensive back Kyler Gordon, linebacker Noah Sewell and defensive lineman Shemar Turner all were full participants as they work to come back from the physically unable to perform list. They were listed as “questionable” for Sunday’s game. Johnson said it’s “highly likely” they’ll activate one of the three for Sunday, however.
