Aldi’s October Freezer Finds Have Landed—Here Are 5 Spooky Season Items Under $6

I’m the person who always slows down when I reach the Aldi Finds freezers, even when there’s nothing frozen on my shopping list. I usually do a quick scan just to see what’s new since my last visit, and October is one of the better months to look. Between fall and Halloween, there’s usually more going on than the everyday frozen foods I’m used to seeing.

I stopped by Aldi to see what had landed for spooky season, and I’ll admit, the Halloween selection wasn’t quite as big as I expected. I didn’t find freezer cases packed with orange-and-black boxes or dozens of foods shaped like ghosts and pumpkins. Still, I found several seasonal options scattered throughout the freezer section I wanted to try.

That’s one of the reasons I like shopping at Aldi in the first place. I can go in with a pretty ordinary grocery list and still find a few things I’ve never noticed before. Better yet, most of the seasonal freezer finds I spotted were around $6 or less, so I didn’t have to think too hard about adding one to my cart.

If you’re heading to Aldi this October, these are the seasonal freezer finds to look for while they’re still around.

Aldi’s Spooky Season Freezer Haul: The Best October Finds

Here’s what I found in Aldi’s freezer aisle this October, from Halloween treats to fall-ready favorites.

    1. Appetito’s Cranberry & Feta Mini Puff Pastries, $4.99 at Aldi

These aren’t particularly spooky, but they were too fall-perfect to leave off the list. For $4.99, you get mini all-butter puff pastries filled with cream cheese and feta, then topped with cranberry sauce. The cranberry isn’t plain either: It’s made with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cardamom.

I’d pick these up for a Halloween party where I wanted at least one appetizer that wasn’t shaped like a ghost. They’d also work for Thanksgiving or any fall get-together, especially because all you have to do is pull them from the freezer and bake them.

    2. Truffle Arancini Bites, $3.79 at Aldi

I’m a sucker for anything with truffle on the box, so these arancini bites immediately caught my eye. The Italian-inspired appetizer pairs breaded rice balls with cheese and truffle flavor for something that feels a little more special than your run-of-the-mill freezer-aisle snack.

I’d serve them straight from the oven with warm marinara for dipping. They’re just as good for snacking on the couch as they are piled onto a platter when you have people over.

    3. Sundae Shoppe Jack-O-Lantern Pops, $2.69 at Aldi

If I were shopping specifically for Halloween, these would be the first thing going into my cart. The $2.69 box comes with four jack-o’-lantern-shaped frozen pops in three flavors: orange-colored vanilla, purple strawberry and cocoa. Each one has a different pumpkin face, which is reason enough to choose them over a regular ice cream bar in October.

At 60 calories per pop, they’re also a pretty small treat. I could see putting out a box after a Halloween movie night or keeping them in the freezer when you want something festive without opening yet another bag of Halloween candy.

    4. Tyson Spooky Nuggets, $5.99 at Aldi

With this fun freezer find, chicken nuggets get a Halloween costume too. Tyson’s Spooky Nuggets come shaped like bats, ghosts and pumpkins, and unlike some novelty foods that end up looking like vaguely shaped blobs, you can actually tell what these shapes are supposed to be.

The 27-ounce bag is $5.99, and the nuggets are fully cooked, so they’re an easy freezer option when you want dinner to feel a little more Halloween-y. Toss them in the air fryer and add ketchup, barbecue sauce or honey mustard for dipping. I’d take a plate of little chicken bats over carving a jack-o’-lantern out of a bell pepper any day.

    5. Maple Dijon Cauliflower, $3.49 at Aldi

Plain frozen cauliflower isn’t exactly something I get excited about, but add maple and Dijon, and I’m listening. This $3.49 frozen side coats cauliflower florets in a sauce that pairs sweet maple with the sharp, tangy bite of Dijon mustard.

I’d pull this out on a night when roasted chicken or pork needs something more interesting alongside it, especially once the weather cools down. And because the seasoning is already handled, there’s no measuring maple syrup, whisking together a sauce or dirtying another bowl just to make a vegetable taste good.

Why Aldi’s Seasonal Freezer Aisle Beats the Big Box Stores

Target and Walmart may have bigger freezer sections, but bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better when I’m looking for seasonal food. Much of that space is taken up by the same brands and products I can buy in January, April or August. At Aldi, a larger share of the freezer aisle seems to change with the season, so there’s usually something new to look for.

And Aldi tends to go beyond swapping pumpkin spice into something and calling it seasonal. The assortment can get really specific, and sometimes a little strange, which is what makes me stop and look. I don’t need 40 frozen pizzas to choose from. Give me a few things I haven’t seen before and a reason to open the freezer door.

    Final Thoughts

The best part of Aldi’s seasonal aisle is the hunt. You never quite know what’ll be wedged between the everyday staples, and October is a particularly fun time to peek around. Just don’t get too attached. What’s there today could be gone by your next grocery run.
