    The Crimson Tide swept Delta State for the second straight year

    TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama swimming and diving program defeated Delta State in dominant fashion at the Alabama Aquatic Center on Saturday as the women won 253-33 and the men won 248-41.

    For the second straight year, the Crimson Tide won all 32 events against the Statesmen.

    Madyson Hartway highlighted the women’s side, sweeping the breaststroke events, and for the men, Joao Pierre Campos, Cole Witmer and Bogdan Zverev all went home with two individual victories in their respective races.

    “Overall, I’m very happy with the way that the team competed for the first home meet. It’s always great to have the home crowd getting rowdy and showing some pride so I really enjoyed that. We had a lot of new people that this was their first meet and a lot of people that this was their first home meet so there was a lot of excitement there as well.”

    “The foundation that we set has been really good so I’m excited to keep on building on that. Obviously, we have a couple weeks here before the next CSL Match and then we have Miami and the UGA Invite which is the focus for the Fall, so I’m just excited to get back to work!”

    Four Crimson Tide swimmers won multiple individual events Alabama divers owned the top two scores in all four of the diving events Joao Pierre de Gruttola Campos captured two individual victories, winning the 1000 free (9:09.10) and the 500 free (4:25.72) Cole Witmer also claimed two individual wins, taking the 100 back in 48.38 and the 200 back in 1:46.95 Bogdan Zverev earned two individual victories, winning the 200 butterfly in 1:46.57 and the 200 IM in 1:48.25 Madyson Hartway swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast (1:02.53) and 200 breast (2:18.03) Newcomer Zara Zallen took first in the 100 free with a time of 49.86 Newcomer Avery Luedke took first in the 200 back with a time of 2:00.10

    TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Delta State University men’s and women’s swim and dive programs took on the Division I power Crimson Tide from the University of Alabama Saturday afternoon at the Alabama Aquatics Center.

    The Crimson Tide bested the Statesmen 248-41, and the Lady Statesmen fell 253-33.

    On the men’s side, the Statesmen had standout performances in the pool from seniors Austin Huffhines, and Riley Oaks along with a personal best on the boards from freshman Gabriel Ledon.

    Huffhines posted a season best 1:40.87 in the 200-yard freestyle.

    In the 200-yard back, Oaks placed in the top four with a time of 1:56.13 in his first time competing in the event this season.

    Freshman Crosby Fenniman made an impact for the Statesmen in the 200-yard breaststroke. The Tallahassee native posted a time of 2:12.81 in his first time swimming the 200-yard breaststroke this season.

    On the boards, freshman Gabriel Ledon had a solid outing for the Green and White. The Loganville, Ga., native placed third in both 1 meter and 3-meter diving events.

    On the Lady Statesmen side, the Green and White had solid outings from Chloe Skelt and Olivia Murphy.

    Skelt and Murphy were half of the 200-yard medley relay team with Nicolette Wight and Kennedy Cleasant improved from their Magnolia Invite meet performance with a time of 1:45.16.

    Individually Skelt had her season best in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing third with a time of 1:05.17.

    Murphy made her season debut in the 50-yard freestyle posting a time of 23.63.

    Freshman Ella Berg made her debut in the 200-yard butterfly where she posted a time of 2:15.24.

    The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen are back in action on Friday, Oct. 23 as they travel to Little Rock for the Little Rock Sprint Shootout.
