During Dakota Johnson’s third time hosting Saturday Night Live on Oct. 3, the actress got an unexpected birthday surprise when Swift appeared during the show’s goodnights, carrying a turquoise-and-white cake made especially for her.
Johnson, who turned 37 on Oct. 4, immediately lit up when she saw her pop star friend walking toward her with the tasty gift. After Swift handed over the cake, Johnson jumped up and down before wrapping the singer in a hug.

Gaby Scelzo, owner of New York bakery Gaby Cakes, had no idea her pastry would become part of such a cute moment during the episode.

Scelzo had prepared two cakes for the occasion. The turquoise cake that Swift carried on stage was funfetti with salty vanilla buttercream, while the second cake was a gluten-free vanilla cake topped with marshmallow meringue frosting.
Interestingly, there was one detail baked into the experience to make it even more unforgettable, which was that Swift herself provided her handwriting. Before the cakes made their way to Studio 8H, Scelzo wrote “happy birthday Dakota!” across the top, later sharing a close-up of the finished cakes on Instagram. She jokingly captioned the post, “New font unlocked: Taylor Swift’s handwriting,” alongside a string of celebratory emojis.
