WELLSBURG, N.Y. — At least three people are critically injured after a tractor hayride overturned in Wellsburg, about seven miles from Elmira, on Sunday afternoon.
Chemung County sheriff’s deputies say the John Deere tractor tried to make a turn around 4:30 p.m., separating the wagon and causing the passengers to eject. About 20 people, mostly children, were in the wagon at the time.
Deputies say 14 people were treated at the scene and at least five others were taken away by ambulance. The driver was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition. Check back for any updates.
