AP voters, apparently, were not impressed and dropped Kentucky out of the top 25. Heather Dinich, ESPN’s College Football Playoff insider, weighed in on the matter. Dinich stated that, based on her knowledge of the CFP selection committee, Kentucky would be ranked in that top 25. Dinich ranked Kentucky at No. 17 in her top 25, where she ranks teams based on how the committee would rank them, not her own assessment.

The good news for Kentucky is now that we’re in October, we’re not too far away from the CFP top 25 overtaking the AP poll as the most important rankings. The first CFP Top 25 of the season will be unveiled on Nov. 3. For the next few weeks, though, the AP Top 25 will serve as the rankings of reference.
